Looking to provide a helping hand.  Here are some places that can use your assistance.

  • The Mission of Our Lady of the Angels:

We need more help on Tuesdays at the pantry. Can you help?
7:45 AM- 12 PM – Every Tuesday at the School- 3814 W. Iowa St.

There are many available jobs at the pantry that can be done while sitting and do not require lifting. If you can’t come, please ask all of your retired friends what they do on Tuesday mornings!   • Little Sisters of the Poor:

Seeking volunteers for a variety of needs, seven days a week, at St. Mary’s Home, 2325 N. Lakewood Ave., one block west of DePaul University; for information, contact the volunteer coordinator  at 773-935-9600, ext. 221 or email volchicago@littlesistersofthepoor.org.

  • Women’s Center: 

Main office at 5116 N. Cicero Avenue is looking for volunteers to answer phones and other tasks; call Terry Jones at 773-794-4771 or email tjones@gotwc.org.

  • Providence Soup Kitchen:

Hours available Monday-Friday, 9:15 AM – 1:30 PM underneath St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Noble Street and Evergreen Avenue, contact Sr. Darlene through the website at  www.providence-soupkitchen.com.

  • Chicago Shares:

Chicago-area non-profit with ties to several faith communities helping homeless or needy with a voucher program; looking for volunteers to help with publicity, especially social media; for Information visit Chicago-shares-org. or contact Ron Polaniecki at chicagoshares@gmail.com, or 312-573-4494.

  • Our Lady of Sorrows:

Volunteers needed to serve breakfast to our neighbors in need at Our Lady of  Sorrows Parish during the summer months.

Dates:  August 24; September 14  —  Time:  6:00 a.m. each Saturday listed.

Details:  Meet at Old St. Mary’s Parking Lot –  Carpool to Our Lady of Sorrows – 3121 W. Jackson Blvd. –
Serve Hot breakfast – assist with clean-up – return to Old St. Mary’s  by approximately 9:00 a.m.

  • St. James Food Pantry

St. James Food Pantry is currently in need volunteers from 8:30-11:30 AM on Wednesday and Thursday mornings to help with the pantry as well as from 12:45-3:00 PM on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons to serve lunch to the homeless.
