Video and Resources Available for “Domestic Violence:  There Is Help”

The Domestic Violence Ministries of Old St. Mary’s, Old St. Pat’s, and Assumption recorded the program which they sponsored on February 2, 2021.  Below is a link to the video of that program:

The program, presented in a Q&A format, features the Director of the Illinois Domestic Violence Hotline,  a volunteer Crisis Line worker for Sarah’s Inn (one of the area’s largest and most comprehensive domestic violence agencies), two Chicago police officers who have answered 911 calls involving domestic violence, an attorney with Life Span Center that provides legal help for victims of domestic violence, and the Family Activity Coordinator for the House of Good Shepherd shelter for women and children victimized by domestic violence.  The program was moderated by Dr. Gerry Piorkowski from the Old St. Pat’s Domestic Violence Ministry.

In addition to Domestic Violence financial abuse can also exist.

Financial abuse occurs in up to 98% of abusive relationships and is one of the top reasons that it is difficult for people to leave. Unfortunately, many people do not even recognize financial abuse as abuse.
