Covid-19 Crisis Relief Fund

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

In his new encyclical “Fratelli Tutti,” Pope Francis speaks to our common humanity and the essential aspect of that humanity: “We were created for a fulfillment that can only be found in love.” The Holy Father assures us that despite the challenges we face amidst the pandemic that has crippled our world with uncertainty and fear, when we understand that our lives are interwoven together as one family under God then we must also understand what those among us who fight valiantly for the lives and well-being of the most vulnerable in our family understand: “that no one is saved alone.”

The Archdiocese of Chicago Covid-19 Crisis Relief Fund, created in collaboration with Catholic Charities Chicago, presents the Catholic community with an opportunity to extend a hand to our suffering brothers and sisters. The story of our Covid-19 Crisis Relief Fund begins and continues with the exemplary selflessness, extraordinary vision and steadfast perseverance of so many Archdiocesan and Catholic Charities staff, direct services providers, members of the fund advisory committee and donors. Since the launch of the fund we have raised nearly $12 million to support food pantries, the Kolbe House ministry, homeless and domestic violence shelters, and to provide resources to bury the dead and to assist Catholic school families with tuition costs.

Please visit our website to learn more about our fund’s impact on our most vulnerable brothers and sisters, and our new, truly engaging fund video which serves as a powerful reminder of the real human costs of this crisis and the compassionate care that the fund has made possible. You can access the video by clicking here.

As the crisis endures indefinitely, and the basic human needs throughout our community grow exponentially, we will continue to raise funds to alleviate the suffering of our brothers and sisters during the pandemic. Please consider partnering with me and so many in extending a hand to our brothers and sisters in need by donating to the Archdiocese Covid-19 Relief Fund. You can make a donation online or by contacting our Stewardship and Development Office at [email protected] or 312.534.7959.

You and your family will continue to be in my prayers as I ask God to keep you safe and healthy in these challenging times.

Sincerely yours in Christ,
