Faith Formation Ministry Opportunities

Our Lifelong Faith Formation ministry at Old St. Mary’s invite people of all ages into a deeper encounter with Christ. From preparing young families for baptism to accompanying adults entering the Church, these ministries form the heart of our parish life. We’re always looking for caring, committed parishioners to serve as catechists, aides, ministers, or team members. Some of the Ministry Opportunities include:

Sunday Faith Formation (SFF)
* Catechist – Teach classes for children (PreK–5th) or middle school youth (6th–8th), using parish-provided curricula and support.
* Catechetical Aide – Assist with classroom management and support the catechist during sessions.
* Front Desk/Security – Greet families and monitor building entrances during Sunday morning programming.

Children’s Liturgy of the Word (CLW)
* Catechist – Facilitate age-appropriate Gospel reflections for children during the 8:00 AM or 11:00 AM Sunday Mass.
* Catechetical Aide – Support the catechist by helping care for children and creating a welcoming environment.

Altar Server Ministry
* Altar Server – Serve at our Liturgical Celebrations, including weekend Masses, Wednesday School Mass, and other important days (ex. Holy Days, Simbang Gabi, etc.)
* Mass Guide – Greet and assist altar servers before Mass and serve as their point of contact during liturgy.

Baptism Ministry
* Catechist – Lead engaging preparation classes for parents and godparents preparing to baptize their child.
* Accompaniment Specialist – Follow up with recently baptized families to invite them into parish life and community events.

Adult Faith Formation
* Advisor – Join the Adult Faith Formation Team to help envision and support opportunities for adult discipleship and formation.

Order of Christian Initiation (OCI)
* OCI (Adults) Catechist – Accompany adults exploring the Catholic faith as they begin their sacramental journey.
* OCI (Teens) Catechist – Guide and support teenagers preparing to become Catholic.
* OCI (Children) Catechist – Walk with children and their families as they prepare for full initiation into the Church.

Youth Ministry (YM)
* Youth Minister – Serve as a trustworthy adult presence in the lives of our teens through events, mentoring, and accompaniment.

Parent Advisory Team (PAT)
* Team Member – Collaborate with parish staff to support and strengthen Faith Formation programs for children, youth, and families.

Our Lady of Guadalupe Committee
* Team Member – Help plan and coordinate our parish’s celebration of the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe on December 12.
