New School Principal Announcement

Dear Members of Old St. Mary’s Parish and School,

As you know, for the last few months, after Diana Smith announced her retirement as our principal, the principal search committee and I have been vetting and interviewing candidates. Two weeks ago, I convened members of parish leadership – Staff, Parish Council, Finance Council, School Board, Teachers and School Staff – to come together and meet our two finalists, ask questions, pose scenarios, listen, and offer recommendations of the various strengths and weaknesses of the candidates.

I then took that input, checked on references, asked further questions of the candidates, and placed it before the Holy Spirit. It was a long and detailed conversation with the Spirit – so many pastoral directions to consider.

I have offered the position of 5th Principal of Old St. Mary’s School to Ms. April Greer.

Ms. Greer joins us having most recently been a Dean of Students at DePaul College Prep for three years. Previously she served for a year as Interim Principal at The Frances Xavier Warde School where she had also served in other educational capacities since 2007.

I will give her the opportunity to tell you more about herself in upcoming weeks. This weekend, June 4-5th, I will be announcing her appointment at all the Masses. For new parents, Ms. Greer plans to drop by the reception after the 11:00a.m. Mass on Sunday.

Please join me in welcoming April Greer to Old St. Mary’s Parish.

Rev. Brad Schoeberle, CSP
